About this product

Product Information

The RAF's opening shots of the Falklands War were among the most remarkable airstrikes in history. The idea was simple: send a venerable Vulcan to bomb the runway at Port Stanley to deny Argentinian fast jets its use. But the nearest British-owned airfield was Ascension Island - 3,900 miles away from the Falklands. Researcher and historian Andrew D. Bird has uncovered new detail of what really made these extraordinary raids possible, including previously unpublished information about the discreet support provided by the United States. Packed with spectacular original artwork and rare photos from private collections, this book explains how these hugely complex, yet completely improvised raids were launched. This is the story of how the last of the Vulcans, only a few months away from the scrapyard, had to be hastily re-equipped to carry conventional bombs, with bombsights, electronics and navigation systems 'borrowed' from other aircraft. Yet they managed to fly what were the longest-range air raids in history, and struck a severe blow to the occupying forces. Includes: Battlescenes, Bird's-Eye Views, Maps and Diagrams, Expert Analysis

Reviews
Taking care to examine events from both the British and Argentinian perspectives, 'Operation Black Buc k 1982' is the definitive account of the Vulcan raids on the Falklands. Brimming with fascinating new detail and fresh insights, Andrew Bird's brilliant new book taught me something new on every page. Lavishly illustrated with incredible new artwork from Adam Tooby and a real treasure trove of rare and unseen photographs, this book will be irresistible to anyone with even the slightest interest in the record-breaking missions that captured the world's attention in 1982.- Rowland White, author of the bestselling Vulcan 607

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!
