A Sindrome da Bexiga Hiperativa (SBH) e caracterizada por urgencia urinaria com ou sem incontinencia, acompanhada de frequencia e nocturia. O tratamento e inicialmente clinico, visando o relaxamento do musculo detrusor com uso de anticolinergicos e antidepressivos triciclinos. A Imipramina e um antidepressivo triciclico que possui acao anticolinergica e alfa-adrenergica indireta, relaxando o detrusor e aumentando a pressao intrauretral, diminuindo os episodios de perda urinaria, sendo uma boa alternativa para a Incontinencia Urinaria de Urgencia. O estudo teve como objetivo validar a Imipramina como opcao para mulheres com SBH e verificar a ocorrencia e a frequencia dos efeitos adversos. Concluimos que, como unica medicacao disponivel no Sistema Unico de Saude para tratar essa patologia, podemos passar a utiliza-la com cautela como opcao terapeutica ao anticolinergico hoje mais usado, a oxibutinina, uma vez que se mostrou segura em relacao aos efeitos colaterais e apresentou significancia estatistica em relacao ao tratamento conservador.
