    Solid, reliable replacement for any failed OEM laptop drive.

    Seagate is a well-respected manufacturer of both OEM and replacement SATA drives for many laptop computers, not just the older ones using, e.g., 5400 RPM drives. In this particular instance, I bought this 80GB drive to replace a 40GB drive in an old Compaq Presario, and that drive was a replacement of the original drive, which was a 20GB drive. Once properly installed and formatted, the hard drive becomes the primary data storage workhorse of all computers. With daily use, you can usually expect the HD in any laptop to last about 3 years ... the lighter your use of the laptop, the longer the drive will last. Drive longevity also depends on how drive-intensive your programs/uses are. If your programs don't require heavy drive activity, your drive will last longer. Also, if you ...
