A.W.Pink's written ministry was influential in the latter half of the 20th century and that influence continues in the 21st century. Anyone who has ever read anything Pink has written cannot help but see the characteristic depth and profound insights which was consostently the case with Puritan Chirstian literature. Mr.Pinks life and ministry continue to fascinate because his written ministry grew exponentially in its influence after his death in 1952.'Profiting From The Word' is one of many examples of that growing usefulness. It never appeared in book form while Pink was alive.The articles oroginally appeared in the monthly magazine started by A.W.Pink and I.C.Herendeen in 1922.There would be a series of articles from the past and present with Pink editing and contributing articles which ... Profiting... first appeared as a series in the 'Studies' from 1930-1932.Some of the individual chapters were published in tract form in the mid to late fifties. It was first published in book form in 1970 by The Banner Of Truth,and remains in print to this day. Mount Zion Publ.(also known as Chapel Library) in Pensacola Fl.has had the book in print for about 12 years and copies have been distributed worldwide to prison inmates,Churches and individuals. The author takes some major Christian teachings and seeks to help the reader evaluate,if their reading of God's Word is producing increasing godliness in their lives. To give an example from the first chapter 'The Scriptures and Sin'a few of Pink's headings in this chapter are:An 1.Individual is scriptually profited when the Word convicts him of sin 2. ...makes him sorrow over sin 3. ...leads to confession of sin 4. ...provides in him a deeper hatred of sin. What A.W.Pink has done creatively is provide help for the reader to assess if their reading of the Bible is producing Biblical repentance. Some of the other chapters which are all filled with rich Biblical insight are: The Scriptures and obedience,The Scriptures and the World and The Scriptures and love. This brief but valuable treatise is ideal for adult Sunday school and Bibles studies. May the Lord continue to mightily use this gem for His glory and honour.
