About this product

Product Information

Here, in his own words, is the true story of America's wildest flying hero, of his extraordinary heroism, and of his greatest battle of all--the fight to survive. The World War II air war in the Pacific needed tough men like Colonel Pappy Boyington and his Black Sheep Squadron. The legendary Marine Corps officer and his bunch of misfits, outcasts, and daredevils gave new definition to "hell-raising"--on the ground and in the skies. Pappy himself was a living legend--he personally shot down twenty-eight Japanese planes, and won the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. He broke every rule in the book doing so, but when he fell into the hands of the vengeful Japanese his real ordeal began.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

This book is Boyington's attempt to whitewash his failures by largely blaming them on everyone but himself. While a very gifted pilot and natural leader, Boyington was a self-centered alcoholic, and, by his own admission, a "psychopathic liar" who consistently lied to the Marine Corps and consistently lies in this book. Regrettably, the Marine Corps has accepted his lies about his aerial victories while in the American Volunteer Group (he claims six, the records show two)and his unconfirmed (and unconfirmable) claims of two victories in addition to the one confirmable one the day he was shot down and captured by the Japanese, January 3, 1944. As a result, the Marine Corps accepts his full claim of 28 victories, which would put him two ahead of Joe Foss and make him the ...

  • Gut wrenching WW II history!

Watched the tv show Baa-Baa Black sheep as a kid and wanted to know the real story. I have read half the book and find the story of Col. Boyington very interesting. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in WW II history.

  • A small book, but with a character bigger than life.

A true life story of a guy with unlimited imagination and guts. The only thing that would be better would be a signed copy.

  • Great value and great service.

We love the shows and wanted to read the real story. If the book is as fun and interesting as the shows we purchased on Ebay we will be very happy. We have a long line of Marine Corps history in our family , although not avaitors, I am excited to read the book and pass it to the next to enjoy.
