"This is the best sports book I've read in years. The research, the writing, the pace -- it's All-Pro material." -- Terry Pluto, The Akron Beacon Journal, "This is the best sports book I've read in years. The research, the writing, the pace -- it's All-Pro material." -- Terry Pluto, "The Akron Beacon Journal", "Mark Kriegel has written the sport's bio equivalent of Maravich on a fast break: dazzling and smart, and, even at 381 pages, over before you knew it." -- The Wall Street Journal, "Like the best journalists, Kriegel has the ability to get out of the way and let a good story tell itself." -- "The Atlanta Journal Constitution", "Pistol is a classic American tale wonderfully told. With deep research and a vivid narrative style, Mark Kriegel brings us the joy and sorrow of Pete Maravich, an inimitable basketball player who was both timeless and before his time, an original talent haunted by demons -- his father's and his own." -- David Maraniss, author of Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero, "Mark Kriegel has written the sport's bio equivalent of Maravich on a fast break: dazzling and smart, and, even at 381 pages, over before you knew it."-- "The Wall Street Journal", "I grew up possessed by the legend of 'Pistol' Pete Maravich. I've marveled at the supernatural skills of Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Jerry West, Kobe Bryant -- all of them were greater basketball players than the 'Pistol'. Yet none of them could touch the magical, otherworldly qualities he brought to the court, the genius and wizardry and breathtaking creativity. He could light up a crowd like a match set to gasoline. His game was lordly, inimitable and he should have been the greatest player to ever play the game. This great book by Mark Kriegel will explain why he was not. I never saw a greater or more electrifying basketball player and the 'Pistol's' is one of the saddest stories ever told. Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • A talented self-made man who is truly unbelievable!

I bought this book as a gift for my grandson. He is a second Pete Maravich. People who watch him play cannot believe how he dribbles between his legs, one hand in the back and the other in the front. He passes behind his back while moving and without looking at the receiver but with lightning quickness. Too bad he was not tall.

  • Excellent

Excellently written so that you don’t want to put it down. Great for any person wanting to be more than just a game player. Pete Maravich’s passion for the game is a legacy and certainly inspiring.
