A story about following one's dream and not someone else's
Great movie about the power of love, tolerance, overcoming inner conflicts in the face of gender stereotypes, social expectations, and being true to ones self. The setting is 1984 Northern England. The youngest of a coal miner’s two sons is expected to follow the family tradition of learning boxing, becoming a third generation successor to a pair of boxing gloves. During a boxing class in the school gymnasium, the young boy is captivated by the activities of a ballet class in session at the opposite end. other than the unnecessary language this is a great movie. too bad i can not give it a 5 star for that reason because the language is what makes it family or not. take the language out and it's a 5 star all the way.
