About this product

Product Information

A gargantuan, mind-altering comedy about the Pursuit of Happiness in America set in an addicts' halfway house and a tennis academy, and featuring the most endearingly screwed-up family to come along in recent fiction, Infinite Jest explores essential questions about what entertainment is and why it has come to so dominate our lives; about how our desire for entertainment affects our need to connect with other people; and about what the pleasures we choose say about who we are. Equal parts philosophical quest and screwball comedy, Infinite Jest bends every rule of fiction without sacrificing for a moment its own entertainment value. It is an exuberant, uniquely American exploration of the passions that make us human - and one of those rare books that renew the idea of what a novel can do.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • big literary fun

One of the truly most enjoyable novels I've ever read. Yes, it's challenging; yes, it's dense; yes, it has over a hundred pages of small-type endnotes... Did any of this detract from my enjoyment of the book? Nope. In fact, it may have added to it. Aside from being a 'difficult read', though, it's also funny, poignant, compassionate, entertaining, insightful, satirical, prescient, and intelligent as all hell. One thing I will say, however, if that this book isn't for everyone. If you are the type of reader who wants easy answers, or for that matter an actual ending, this is probably not for you. The satisfaction of this book lies in the page by page savoring of it, not its conclusion (which is brilliant, IMO, but just not if you are expecting the usual).

  • This is the most important book of the late 20th and early 21st century.

Read this book! Think. Then do it again. It is not a story. It almost isn't even a book at all - it virtually has a heart, lungs and a brain of its own - because its concerns extend far beyond anything that can be expected of the medium. If you could put the entire contemporary world between two covers it would closely resemble this book. The early critical reviews focus on humor but that sells the book short. It is funny, but is also sad, manic, cruel, and honest. You need 3 bookmarks to read this. One for the footnotes, one for page 223, and one for the page you are currently on. If this book is too confusing, try Brief Interviews with Hideous Men or the Girl with Curious Hair to get a feel for Wallace's authorial "voice". To me, this is the most interesting thing about his work, and ...

  • great book

Great book, but the shipping cost and added tax, added another $25,00 to the purchase which I consider gouging. I wanted to return the book, but was arbitrarily prevented from doing so

  • bought this book for my husband

He wanted it because he enjoys the author and saw the book on the show weeds. he loves it. I bought this book online because it was a hard cover, given it was such a thick book (with tiny print!!) i wanted it sturdy. I could not find hard cover at borders.
