    Best study Bible I have used.

    The extra content in this study bible is more helpful for understanding the text. While there is some commentary, what i appreciate is all the archaeological, historical, and cultural information that allows the reader to make conclusions themselves. The referencing system is all easy to use.

    Okay I guess but ....

    I love the ESV translation and the layout and notes are useful. I don’t care for many of the pictures. They simply aren’t as vibrant as I had hoped they would be. Warning with a smile: I am an older Christian and with the color reproductions, this is a HEAVY Bible. Overall: I would reluctantly recommend it at the eBay bargain price but though dated my older NIV Archeological Bible had better pictures.

    Nice...but misses the mark.

    Been reading this Bible along with two others - plus the Dead Sea Scrolls with my husband since I bought it. My major complaint is the commentarys that bring in way too much ponderous space of other ancient cultures that would be better spent in footnotes elsewhere if one wanted to read all of them. Many of the maps / and some of the illustrations are well done...but would I recommend to others? Probably not.
