One of the most fondly remembered sports franchises from the 8- and 16-bit era is resurrected for a new generation of gamers in Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff. Though it no longer carries an NFL license, the game features 32 teams located all across the U.S., and it still lets players hit the gridiron for classic, arcade-style football. Gamers can customize their team's colors, logo, home city, player names, and playbooks, and new "Super Abilities" let players perform over-the-top maneuvers. Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff harkens back to its predecessors by featuring minimalist playbooks and dramatic cut-scenes, but it also makes use of modern technology by letting gamers participate in both local and global wireless multiplayer action.

    Great pick up and play with awesome editing options

    It’s Tecmo Bowl unshackled by the NFL with the same compelling gameplay. It plays like the NES version of TECMO SUPER BOWL, maybe better. The editing alone puts it in a class alone. You have 12 plays to choose from in a game; six runs, six passes.

    Similar to original, but not quite.

    I used to love the vintage Tecmo Bowl, and this game is pretty close. I miss the old Tecmo Bowl music, which would have made it more of a throwback for me. It still has fictional teams, which can be edited. It still has those plays that can't be stopped, too ;-} Overall, I give this game a 8/10, with a replay value after a month of 7/10. You can't play this all the time...You need some Madden here and there, too!

    Almost Like the Classic!

    The game looks and plays like the Tecmo Super Bowl game for the SNES, only without the NFL license. I can't say I miss the NFL license as I was able to convert the generic teams into NFL lookalikes as well as player names easily. The only problem I had with the game is the running game. YOUR BACKS ARE TOO SLOW!! Despite editing my players with a high emphasis on speed, I still had trouble breaking long runs as the defense moved like Bambi, darting around my blockers like they weren't there to tackle me. I would only recommend this game if you're a fan of T-Bowl, otherwise move on as most likely you played this game nearly 20 years ago.

    You can't beat tecmo bowl on the go I recommend this game the customization is surprisingly easy and extensive you can pretty much replicate the NFL teams and players in no time a must for old school Tecmo Bowl enthusiasts 😀😀😀
