An excellent book that is highly recommended for individuals and all libraries with an interest in the Civil War., This book is recommended for any Civil War buff or historian interested in African American contributions to the Battle of Gettysburg as well as the Civil War as a whole. The closing chapters are particularly interesting to Civil War buffs because they demonstrate how Gettysburg residents participated in the Civil War long after the battle. Reading African Americans and the Gettysburg Campaign not only informs, it motivates the reader to learn more about the topic and visit Gettysburg in order to better appreciate the contribution made by many African Americans.
