Works every time.....
There's no question that this children's classic is beautifully written, so I'll talk about our experience with and appreciation for it. We allowed our 2 1/2 yr old Great-granddaughter to open the mailing package and the box holding the book and bunny. Both are a perfect size for her little hands. The hardboard book is going to hold up through countless reads, and the bunny fits right in the curve of her neck as we cuddle and read. This child rarely sits still and has a difficult time calming down to fall asleep, but the first time she climbed up in my lap to read Goodnight Moon, she was captivated by the calming words and pictures. When we reached the end, she said, "Do it again." Gladly! Half way through our second reading, her breathing was deep and regular....she was asleep! ... Ms. Brown's stories are classics and one of my children's favorite stories to be read each night (and we had hundreds). My own memories of having read stories each night at bedtime to each of my children remains as one of the most rewarding and cherished - not only to me, but to each of them as well. I purchased these two classics - in my opinion two of Ms. Brown's best works - as a "welcome to the family" gift, for the latest (great) nephew and his Daddy. I was thrilled that a special commemorative edition was available with the prospect that ... A Must for Little Ones.
A calming way to prepare a small child for bed. No words, just pictures. After a while, the child can tell the story just using the pictures. The soft bunny that accompanies the book, is a bonus as the book can be bought alone..
