About this product

Product Information

This profound look at Buddhist psychology offers important insights into how Buddhism's ancient teachings apply to the modern world. Basing his work on the writings of the great fifth-century Buddhist master Vasubandhu and the teachings of the Avatamsaka Sutra, Thich Nhat Hanh focuses on the direct experience of recognizing the true nature of consciousness. Presenting the basic teachings of Buddhist applied psychology, he shows how the mind is like a field, where every kind of seed is planted -- seeds of suffering, anger, happiness, and peace. The quality of life, he writes, depends on the quality of the seeds. By learning how to water seeds of joy and transform seeds of suffering, understanding, love, and compassion can flower.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • An important and valuable read on deepening one's understanding of our mind. . .

At first glance, the phrases/passages/verses seemed abstract and unrelate-able. In further reading, I was relieved to discover that the explanations for each verse was very easy to understand, as long as I read and re-read them slowly to comprehend what Thich Nhat Hahn was saying in a spiritual and humanistic sense. Anyone wishing to unravel the mystery of their own psychology will find this book a compelling addition to that journey. As one who has always been fascinated with what makes me and others tick, I look forward to reading each passage as it distills the essence of how impulsivity and judgement narrows our view of others while compassion and empathy can free our mind to care and feel love for another, even complete strangers.

  • by Thich Nhat Hanh

TNH has digested all the Buddhist nuance and is able to convey it in language that makes sense. What he writes about so well is not different then our everyday life .. just that it is enriched by the light of realization.

  • Understanding the mind

I like the book's style which comes in short chapters and verses. It is a book that was relatively well used and is in good shape. I however, the language of the verses can be very inaccessible to an impatient, unschooled reader. I bought it for a course I'm taking at the university.

  • Understanding Our Mind by Rachel Neumann, Thich Nhat Ha

I have yet to read a book written by Thich Nhat Hanh that was not a "treasure". Instead of Freud - I firmly believe colleges should be teaching Thich Nhat Hanh's work in Psychology and Sociology.
