About this product

Product Information

In his signature style of grand storytelling, James A. Michener transports us back thousands of years to the Holy Land. Through the discoveries of modern archaeologists excavating the site of Tell Makor, Michener vividly re-creates life in an ancient city and traces the profound history of the Jewish people--from the persecution of the early Hebrews, the rise of Christianity, and the Crusades to the founding of Israel and the modern conflict in the Middle East. An epic tale of love, strength, and faith, The Source is a richly written saga that encompasses the history of Western civilization and the great religious and cultural ideas that have shaped our world. Praise for The Source "Fascinating . . . stunning . . . [a] wonderful rampage through history . . . Biblical history, as seen through the eyes of a professor who is puzzled, appalled, delighted, enriched and impoverished by the spectacle of a land where all men are archeologists." -- The New York Times "A sweeping [novel] filled with excitement--pagan ritual, the clash of armies, ancient and modern: the evolving drama of man's faith." -- The Philadelphia Inquirer "Magnificent . . . a superlative piece of writing both in scope and technique . . . one of the great books of this generation." -- San Francisco Call Bulletin

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Character Consistency and The Law

I think that the best way to read The Source is to ask yourself these two questions after reading each chapter... 1) Are the historical characters similar enough to any of the current characters to support the idea that history repeats itself, suggesting that people refuse to learn and/or obey God's law, or perhaps don't understand the lessons that the law teaches? 2) Do divine events in The Source serve a consistent purpose through time? If so, does that mean that the old law still possesses significance today?

  • Fabulous book

I’ve read this book many times. I needed a new copy. The story itself is always compelling, even for a book published 60 years ago.

  • The Source--James Michener

I recently borrowed this book from the library and wanted a copy of my own. It is an amazing story of an archeological team and their work revealing the history of Israel as they uncover the layers of a fictional tel. A truly fascinating book -- very well researched. Months later, I still find myself thinking about it. Anyone planning a trip to Israel should consider reading it first.
