This 1880s-style Western Train woodcarving is part of the effort of The Caricature Carvers of America to promote the art of caricature carving. This new book contains not only pictures of the wonderful finished work, but patterns for the characters and an extensive how-to section by Dave Stetson for carving one of the figures. The carvings, the train, and the buildings were created by members of the CCA, which is comprised of 25 of North America's best caricature carvers. Their work is presented in full color, detailed photographs, that will help the reader appreciate the skill and inventiveness of the carvers.     Very Interesting Project These Guys Did

    Not really a work to do or step by step instructions, it's more of what these guys did as a joint project. There are a few patterns of people in the back of the book but not for beginners. They are to poor to follow. All in all it is a great read to see this project as it unfolds. It's really cool.

    Very descriptive

    This book has some very good ideas for caricature carving, particularly in the theme of the 1880s trains. The book has very good photographs and exhibits some fine talent among America's best caricature carvers. There are some patterns you can use, or better yet, you can use the photos to create your own ideas.

    Very appropriate title but NOT a" HOW TO" book

    Very interesting book along with the other two carving examples in the same genre. All three are great in showing what a variety of skills carvers have.An interesting book that should inspire all carvers to have the desire to achieve skills beyond their present level.
