Mostly public domain stuff, but the Mae West film alone makes the set worth buying. Don't miss it!
The majority of these musicals are second or third-rate films, but there are two or three that make it worth buying if you can get it for a good price. There are a couple of Rita Hayworth films, one of which is with Fred Astaire, so that's one of the better ones. I bought this set mostly for "The Heat's On" with Mae West. It's not one of her better films, but the opening number's pretty good, and that alone makes it worth having. NEARLY ALL GARBAGE - don't waste your money
Although I collect old movies (over 1,000) and especially love old b&w musicals, whoever put this together is a TRASH COLLECTOR. With the exception of just 2 out of the 20 musicals, these are mainly cheap, vulgar B-rated movies that I couldn't stomach more than 5 minutes each. I am thankful for the 2 that I valued, but whoever raved & raved about this collection (which led to my buying it) has pathetically poor taste. What came to my mind as I was watching & irritatedly turning off one after another was this, "If there is anything lower than a B-rated movie (like maybe a C?), then these would fall into that category."Although I collect old movies (over 1,000) and especially love old b&w musicals, whoever put this together is a TRASH COLLECTOR.
