About this product

Product Information

So you think you know about King David? The question is: Which David? The David of Sunday school--shepherd boy, killer of Goliath, and plucker of harp? But what about the brigand, murderer, rapist, adulterer, poet, and king? David was all these things. Yet his real story has lain quite undisturbed in the Bible and obscured by centuries of legend. Thanks to the quantum universe we inhabit, you can step through the veil of time and death in order to observe David yourself, guided by his nephew, army commander, and "fix-it man," Joab. Go where few people (apart from those who have had near-death experiences) have gone and returned: Sheol, Hades, Paradise, the Land of No Return. By the power and speed of thought, enter the multiverse of "life continuing" and let Joab show you firsthand his uncle David. But be warned, you will never again read the Bible as a tired, old text. Rather, it will sparkle with new expression and meaning. Author and Hebrew Bible scholar Jack Lawson opens the world of Hebrew narrative by retelling the David story afresh and placing it within a fictional setting for what simply becomes a compelling story.

Reviews
"This is the story of King David told by his nephew and army commander, Joab, three millennia after the fact. Events now look quite different from those as told by the court journalist, whose records have come to us in the Bible. In his sixth novel, Jack Lawson makes us look again at David--with compassion and love, knowledge, wit and humor--yet with eyes wide open at a man as quintessentially human as ourselves." --Shlomo Izre'el, professor emeritus of Semitic linguistics, Tel-Aviv University "King David's personal complexity--as lover, father, warrior, and king--make him one of literature's most compelling characters. But Jack Lawson not only narrates with imagination and humor; his life of scholarship in Semitic studies gives the tale historical authenticity. The result is a fresh and nuanced portrait and an engaging read." --Richard Prust, co-author of Personal Identity in Moral and Legal Reasoning "A lively and imaginative novel, Joab presents the story of David in genre-bending ways that are sure to intrigue, surprise, and disrupt what readers thought they knew about the shepherd boy who became king." --Elaine A. Heath, author of Naked Faith

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!
