About this product

Product Information

"Erasmus laid the egg that Luther hatched," is what the people said. And that made Gerhard Koestler smile. He knew that Erasmus had influenced Luther's thinking. He also believed both men were trying to serve God according to the Scriptures. Gerhard lived in Germany in the 1500s. After a series of adventures and narrow escapes, Gerhard arrived in Basel, Switzerland, where he was able to live in the same house as Erasmus. Although Erasmus' enemies accused him of agreeing with Martin Luther, Erasmus said that the Bible was his guide.

The book is a new copy (as I ordered). Arrived within the frame time. There was no way to track the shipping (which was annoying but I didn't try to contact the seller). The book was packaged in a secure envelope which protected it.

  • Excellent book if you like history of the Protestant Reformation.

Excellent book. Well written. We have several of her books and appreciate all of them. Once you begin reading the book, you will not want to put it down. This book can be enjoyed by elementary pupils and teachers. I would highly recommend this book in every Christian's library. I taught church school for 38 years and appreciate church history.
