    Disappointed

Not exactly what I remembered from my childhood. Maybe I was expecting too much, or maybe this series gets better as it progresses, but the first season only has perhaps 3 memorable episodes, the best being the initial pilot with Roddy McDowell. The rest were somewhat corny and more comical and ridiculous than frightening. Maybe this was good in it's time, but now it's rather bland. Not willing to spend the money and take a chance on the next season in the series.

  • Night Gallery Season 1

After many years of trying to catch these episodes here and there, I can finally watch them all and with no commercials! More often than not, I would fall asleep on the couch while trying to watch them on late night TV, that no longer means I can't see what happened! The pilot episode is simply one of the coolest stories ever (I'd like to buy a painting like the one in that episode!!), and most of the others are very good to excellent, although generally not quite as good as Twilight Zone, which had more direct Rod Serling involvement. The relative crudeness of the studio techniques of the era lends greatly to the charm of this series, as does the "old" looking color filming and crazy '70s clothing! Highly recommended, I'm looking forward to getting Seasons ...

  • Good, not great.

Like most people who are considering or have bought this set, I too watched this show with great reverence years ago. The bad? Nothing noteworthy in terms of extras. The audio and video quality is mediocre by DVD standards and sadly the stories aren't as spectacular as I remembered. The good? It's still Night Gallery. That means Serling intros, and in some cases his writings. It also allows you to see some of your favorite actors from that era of TV(Bill Bixby, Tom Bosly, Vincent Price, just to name a few). In short a worthwhile pickup for the big Gallery fan, For the casual one it's a coin flip.

  • Deja Vu, or just another episode of Night Gallery?

As a child, Night Gallery was my favorite show on television(although I watched it in syndication, as I was two or three when it first debuted on NBC). I have wanted this 3 disc set since I learned of it's existence a couple of years ago. The episodes weren't as scary as I remembered them to be when I was ten, but as an adult I appreciate the brilliantly clever story lines that Rod Serling is famous for; reminiscent of his Twilight Zone days. Night Gallery only lasted 3 seasons, and I was surprised(as well as a bit brought down) to find that there are just as many memorable episodes, if not more in seasons two and three that weren't in this collection. The overly-dramatic style with which the stories are acted and the just-starting-out, pre-fame ...
