    A wealth of stories

    This wonderful book is brimming with fantastic tales in which the author has endeavored to capture the "voice" of the fireside storyteller. Stories are arranged by region, but the book also features a helpful index so that the reader can choose age-appropriate stories to read aloud to children or have them read themselves-what a great idea! Folktales reveal the realities, values, and dreams of our ancestors, which is a a true cultural value. This book offers folktales to us in an authentic way-in the tradition of the great Grimm Brothers-so that we can not only enjoy their magic, but also find bridges between our ancestors and ourselves in their lively characters & adventures. Best Loved Folktales Of The World is a treasure that I recommend you bring into your own home library today :)

    Good Quality Used Book

    I had purchased this book in used condition and it didn't take too long to ship. The book had a minor indentation in the front that had made an indentation into some of the pages in the beginning but it was nothing that impacted the ability to read the book. The pages were in great condition too. I would definitely recommend buying this book used rather than new since it made no difference for me.

    Best Loved Folk Tales is the Best Book for Fairy Tales

    If you were stranded on a desert island with children and could have only one book this would be the one. It is edited by an authority on children's literature. There is an by topics such as "Magical Creatures" and "Trickster Tales" as well as one by titles. The 780 pages are packed with 200 stories, some as short as half a page. There is enough last for years as mnay of the stories children want to hear again and again.

    Best Loved Folktales...

    I LOVE this book!!! There are two hundred short stories and so far each fairy tale read has taught us many life lessons...about morals, character or lack of in some of the stories. I recommend this book. The stories may be short but the life lessons they are teaching have been long and lasting in the hearts and minds of our four children. Regards, Clubwolverinemom
