About this product

Product Information

Want to know what Vietnam was really like? 37 stories with 105 photographs. Like Volumes 1 & 2, these are real stories told by real people, in their own words, men and women, black and white, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, officers and enlisted, Americans, Australians, and New Zealanders, from 1955 to 1975, caught up in an all too real war. From the Delta to the DMZ, come walk in their boots. If you were there, you understand. If you weren't, grab a copy and you will, because they're like Doritos. Try a few and you won't be able to stop. The Vietnam War dominated my generation and affected so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some became war heroes, intentional or not, but most of us were just trying to survive. As we all knew, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. And there were hundreds of different wars depending on where you were, the year you were there, your service, branch, unit, rank, job, and race. Whether we were truck drivers, helicopter pilots, infantryman, clerk typists, medics, engineers, MPs, sailors out on Yankee station, artillerymen, or cooks, from 1956 to 1976 from the Delta to the DMZ, these stories tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place, how it changed us, and what we did after we came home. Unfortunately, what little our kids and grandkids know of the war comes from books that only focus on one soldier, one unit, and one year, or movies like Oliver Stone's Platoon and Hamburger Hill, leaving people to think that all we did was crawl through the jungle on the Cambodian border smoking dope. But that wasn't how most of us spent our year. Hopefully, these books will help correct that narrative.

Reviews
Bob: 5 Stars! Outstanding Book. Certainly Another of Bill Brown's Must Reads. I am a US Navy Vietnam Veteran and have read Bill Brown's "Our Vietnam Wars" volumes 1, 2, & 3. All are outstanding books. What I like most about them all is that they tell the personal stories of individual Vets whole life, from their lives before they went into the service, their service, and their lives after they came back. Not many books I have ever read about the war did that, and certainly not any covered the volume of Vietnam Veterans' stories that Bill's books do. Nadine Morris: 5 Stars! Vietnam The real story. Each person had a story to tell, This is the way to tell the folks back home what happened in the dark days of Vietnam! Lance Howitt: 5 Stars! History lesson I learned so much about the Vietnam war that I never knew by reading all three could. If you enjoy history, you need to read all three books. Wallace E. Walker: 5 Stars! What War is Like This is a terrific book that helps veterans and non-veterans alike better understand what war is like. These are true stories told by Vietnam War veterans. They detail what happened in their war and then how their lives developed thereafter. I strongly recommend it. Earl Walker, PhD Music Fan: 5 Stars! More Personal Stories of Men and Women Who Served in the Vietnam War. Reviewed in Canada. What an amazing series of first-person accounts of what it was like to serve in the military during the Vietnam War, as told by vets who were there. Looking forward to vol. 4! I already have vols. 1 and 2

Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!
