About this product

Product Information

A bizarre, cartoonish actioner about a trio of beautiful, deadly woman warriors known as Wonderwoman, Thief Catcher, and Invisible Girl. These girls join forces against an ancient Ming Dynasty eunuch who is trying to resurrect China's imperialist past by collecting male babies and storing them up to form a new nation. An effervescent yet exhilarating slice of Hong Kong action, the film is sometimes interpreted as a parable about the potential invincibility of a united, democratic China, with the three fighters signifying Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the mainland. Sequel: EXECUTIONERS.

  • Classic golden era HK action

The Heroic Trio, while pretty cheesy by western standards, is a classic actioner from the period where HK action cinema exploded into the west. Comparing it to Charlie's Angels is sort of unfair, as it's closer to the DC comic Birds of Prey, and features a team of three superheroes that start out at odds with each other, but eventually team up to fight an evil cult bent on conquering a city not unlike the retro-future Gotham of Tim Burton's Batman movies. It also bares a strong resemblance to John Carpenter's classic love letter to HK cinema, Big Trouble in Little China, and fans of that movie should check it out as well. It's somewhat hampered by a low budget, especially by Hollywood standards, but the energy and fight choreography more than make up for what they couldn't spend on ...

  • The Heroic Trio

The Heroic Trio ended up being way better than I thought. I bought it because it was a Michelle Yeoh film, and I am a major fan of hers. Even though the dubbed voice isn't her own, I still really liked her character. The plotline was very gripping, and actually made sense. I really enjoyed the action, though I didn't like the villian. He seemed a bit out of it to me, and underdeveloped. The only other thing I didn't like about it was the picture. The version I got was digitally remastered, but it was still dull picture. Understandable, as it was made a while ago. But it was still a bit annoying. All in all, I really enjoyed the film, and I look forward to watching the sequel.

  • The Heroic Trio

Cool addition to the Michelle Yeoh collection. Full of action and great Martial arts. Acting could be better though, but guess you can't have it all!
