The resulting painting often lacks focus, with a subject that seems lacklustre. In this volume, Janet Walsh offers the beginning artist concrete methods for simplifying the watercolour painting process. Her step-by-step method divides the painting process into simple stages of development. First, she shows how to paint in the focal point of the painting, such as a floral bouquet. Then the vase or pot is painted in, and finally the background is developed. Other sections in the book are also devoted to making the painting process simpler. They present, for example, methods for simplifying colour and form, as well as easy techniques for rendering flowers, fruits and vegetables.
