Just the episodes? No commentary? No deleted scenes? No thanks.
For context, I own seasons 1-10 on DVD and I am very satisfied with what I get from them. Not only do I get the episodes, but half the fun in watching them is listening to the commentaries, watching deleted scenes, watching Simpson-related commercials from the 90's. Point is, that the sets are not JUST the episodes I could find online no problem for free. This on the other hand has absolutely NOTHING. Oh wait, it has a preview of the 20th anniversary thing, something that aired a few days BEFORE the initial release of the DVD set, yeah this has nothing going for it. Huge rush job in order to cash in on the 20th anniversary FOX was promoting. And if that's not enough to warrant the 1/5, the DVDs are set in the most awkward way that makes it so easy to scratch the DVDs whenever you ... Happy anniversary-NOW IMPROVE THE SHOW & DVD PACKAGE
OK, I know the show just celebrated its 20th anniversary. I have been watching since December 1989. So, I will get my point across that season 13 was next in line for DVD release. Now, most of us will agree the show has lost a lot of its steam. Just not as good. This season was just watch able. Not outstanding. Decent, not laugh riots. It is 100% true the makers of these DVD packages are NOT reading comments on these DVD releases. Just like season 12 DVD the DVD package is HORRIBLE. Work to open up. DVD's hard to get out once opened. The brochure inside just has list of episodes, information on the DVD's. HEY FOX, HOW ABOUT WRITING SOMETHING ABOUT THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY? Nope, a let down. Cheap, current, but not many special features
All the other Simpsons DVD seasons have commentary for every episode, this doesn't have it for any, or any deleted scenes. However, the reason is, they released this as a special 20th anniversary thing, and it was cheaper than the full priced, full featured seasons. Since they are currently only on season 12 of full fledged DVDs (2010), this is just a cool preview.
