30 years ago, The Beach Boys released the highly influential Pet Sounds LP (in the words of of Paul McCartney and George Martin, "There would have never been a Sgt. Pepper's if it wasn't for Pet Sounds"). The 4-CD release of this classic recording features alternate instrumental and a capella mixes, alternate versions of several hits (including "Good Vibrations," originally recorded during these sessions) and the 1st true stereo mix of the album in it's entirety, plus a 42-page full-color booklet.

    Heavy stuff!

    This is easy....only one of the greatest records in pop music and we get to hear it all. Not just the finished product, but all the ideas that Brian was working with while tapes roll. If you are a Beach Boys fan, you will appreciate this. Not recommended if you are just a casual listener that does not seek interest in how records were produced/recorded by Brian.

    PET SOUNDS rocks!

    I originally purchased the Pet Sounds 30th Anniversary CD box set when it was released in 1997. During a collection purge about 5 years ago, however, I sold it (here on eBay). The sale always bothered me though, since this is one of my top three all-time favorite albums. In re-acquiring the box set recently, I had the pleasure of re-discovering this awesome box set. I also had the added bonus of picking it up at a very reasonable price. It seems that since the 40th Anniversary Pet Sounds release, the price on the 30th Anniversary box set has dropped (which strikes me as ridiculous; the 40th Anniversary set is simply 2 CDs with the album in mono and stereo and a few bonus tracks). In short, this box set, including 4 CDs, is the ultimate version of the ultimate Beach Boys album. If ...

    The 30th anniversary release entitled 'Pet Sounds Sessions' from The Beach Boys remains the most complete and definitive look at the group's greatest album ever. Perhaps best known for their songs about surfing, cars and girls from the early 60s, the band really took off in a whole new direction when they released their classic 'Pet Sounds' album in 1966. Every track contained in this album is a true stand-out. In addition to the original monaural version, the listener is also treated to a first-time release of the entire album in true stereo!
