Dan Brown Rules!
“Inferno” was as intriguing to me as his first 3 featuring Robert Langdon were. I enjoy novels that compel me to go to the internet to learn something new. Every Dan Brown novel in the “Templar” series has motivated me to research further into various topics & even to visit places that are well described in the texts. Witness my recent trip to Portugal which included 2 Templar castles & to Spain to see the Templar church in Córdoba. Dan Brown has his detractors who criticize his lack of research accuracy or his writing style. I am obviously a part of the audience for whom he writes. Those who are disappointed by his books should seek another author. Very Much Enjoyed - Some Nice Twists
I'll not go much into the plot, here, but, rather, offer my impressions. I definitely liked Inferno. The story kept me turning pages. It was a good escape, which is why I read fiction. It also treated me to an adventure set mainly in Florence, Italy, and also briefly in Istanbul, Turkey, providing me with an extensive tour which was quite well described. I very much enjoy action/adventure, thrillers, espionage, mystery and the like, from authors such as Vince Flynn, Daniel Silva, Clive Cussler, Jack Higgins to name a few. For me, Dan Brown fits into that category (even though Lost Symbol was not nearly as good as The Da Vinci Code or Angels & Demons). However, with Inferno, Brown got most of his mojo back. Using Dante's "Inferno" fits the premise rather perfectly for Harvard Professor of ... I'll not go much into the plot, here, but, rather, offer my impressions. I definitely liked Inferno. I am a bit familiar with "Inferno," having read it ages ago, but also because I have extensively photographed and studied Auguste Rodin's "The Gates of Hell," his tribute to Dante's work, though one does not need to know "Inferno" to appreciate the story. Brown guides the reader through quite interesting, to me, historical fact, weaved into an always moving fictional plot. Lines from Dante's "Inferno" are read or recalled by Langdon and he must, hopefully, decipher the words (and symbology) into some meaning which will assist him in his quest. Langdon is joined in this adventure by Dr. Sienna Brooks, an young, attractive and extremely talented medical doctor with an out-the-top IQ, along with a few other attributes. The pair make a good team, not only escaping the (many) bad guys hunting for them, but also in putting together the clues that will lead Langdon to the truth behind his missing two days and near-death experience. The pace of the book is quite good. As I mentioned, it kept me turning pages. Brown, like many other writers I appreciate, does an excellent job of pulling the reader into the current scene and then, just before you discover something you know will have meaning, switches to other characters and their quest / predicament / search / etc. So, then it is off in that direction. And plot twists? Yes, several. A couple of which I absolutely did not expect. Brown does a great job at concealing what is really going on at times so when the moment comes with the twist...it really is a twist. To some, there is too much detail and description and I can appreciate their point of view and opinion. To me, however, that historical background adds much to a story, especially when I have not been to the location where it is set and what is described makes me want to visit. Why not 5 stars? It isn't quite as good at The Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons. But it is definitely, to me, worth the price of admission.

Read book before movie release
To get the most out of the upcoming movie "Inferno", read the book first! The movie will be that much more intriguing. To most who have not read "The DaVinci Code" prior to seeing that movie were a little lost and were not able to totally comprehend the plot, and therefore may have felt the movie was as great as the person who read the book prior to seeing the movie did. Inferno
I have loved all of Dan Browns books including the books before Divinci Code. Life got busy and I did not take the opportunity to read this particular book. Now that the movie is coming out I have to read the book before it is released. I am a few chapters into it and Dan Brown's character Robert Langdon, does not cease to amaze me. Definitely a page turner!
