Additional Information
Based on Joseph Heller's much-loved best-selling novel, this sometimes disturbing antiwar satire centers around a group of World War II fliers in the Mediterranean and the insanity of war. The catch-22 of the title deals with a military snafu that results when a bombardier in the war attempts to get out of the military by feigning insanity--however, completing the paperwork for this proves him sane. Mike Nichols (THE GRADUATE) directed this wacky romp, getting supporting help from such stars as Alan Arkin (who makes the perfect Yossarian), Art Garfunkel, Bob Newhart, Anthony Perkins, Martin Sheen, and Orson Welles.

Sold as identical packaging to that of the official Bond store. £10.82 duly paid. What was received was an item in generic packaging with Amazon receipt inside. Currently retailing on Amazon for £4.96. False advertising=£6 profit. Contact made, initial reply and no further response despite further query sent. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Risky delivery as the pop was inside the amazon box with no extra protection such as bubble wraps or anything at all. However, by the grace of god I opened the box and saw the pop all good. Communication with the seller … brilliant 🤘🏻

  • Catch 22 review

One admires the scriptwriter who attempted to reduce the plot of Catch 22 to a film. The story of an american airman who wishes to be sent back home to the usa before his almost certain and inevitable death wanders through a plot of almost bizarre unreality and strange but memorable characters. It is hard to realize that the hero Yossarion could only have been aged about twenty at most. The rest of his colleagues of a similar age. Alan Arkin does not look twenty. The film is linked by annoying and tedious scenes relating to Yossarion helping a mortally injured airman. I suppose this was necessary to show how frightened for his own life Yossarion had become. The scene of Yossarian accepting his medal while completely naked is hilarious. In the end yossarion paddles away from the chaos in ...

  • The book considered unfilmable made into a truly great film.

I saw this film on its release in the cinema, which would be in the 1970's. It is based on Joseph Hellers best selling book of the same name and was considered unfilmable when director Mike Nicholls set about the task. Given this prediction, I would have to say that Mike Nicholls did a magnificent job. The film is an anti-war satire that is truly shocking, hilariously funny and very thought provoking. The cast, led by Alan Arkin, is great (the likes of Orson Wells, Martin Balsom, Martin Sheen, Jon Voight et al)and there is some wonderful photography, e.g the WWii bombers taking off at the start of the film. When I saw the DVD on ebay I had to buy it for my very small collection. The book was argued by John Sargent as the book of the century in a TV programe. It didn't win but was ...
