    The Chopper

It's a simple product and I applaud whoever invented it. I recently constructed a retaining wall which is almost 2' long (N Scale) and The Chopper made cutting the "timber" quite simple. Measure once and cut over 100 pieces of "Matchstick Timber" to exact specs is what has made me a fan of this device. I urge you to get one if you're planning any scratch building in the future. JMS

    the base flexs,

Base is built to light and causes cuts to be off square. the one I seen on youtube worked much better. The hinge is a bit prone to flex as well and threading it to hold the stronger thicker blade of a flooring cutter would improve its cutting capability. I would not purchase a replacement if our garbage man failed to return it.

  • NWSL ¨The Chopper¨

If you are into modeling railroads or anything else, ¨The Chopper¨ is for you. It makes very precise cuts on wood as well as plastic styrene and other materials. I don´t know how I ever got along without it. It´s quite durable and well worth the $$ you would spend on it. I highly recommend this product. It even cuts miters at 45 and 60 degrees. The razor blades are very simple to replace once it gets dull. If just one side of the blade gets dull, you can even just turn the razor blade 180 degrees and use the other side until it becomes too dull to use. I really love my North West Short Line ¨The Chopper¨. If you want to make the pieces drop out automatically you can make a simple stand for it to put it on an angle and the chopped pieces just fall out for you to make the next ...

  • The Chopper

The biggest complaint I read about the Chopper I is that the cutting surface becomes gouged under the blade over time, which the hardboard will. I don't know if anyone else has tried this same cure/repair, all you have to do is remove all parts (bolts) of the Chopper from the board and place a cheap self-healing pad over the board and put all the parts back in the original holes right through the self-healing cutting pad and chop away again. No complaints at all with the unit itself. I love the Chopper I. It makes any scratch build project so much easier and quicker.
