An outstanding man
My husband and I love the mystery movies from BBC, and Dr Blake is one of our favorites. He is upstanding and outstanding as a character. The plots are clever. The supporting characters are real, have a sense of humor, and are sympathetic to the needs of others. We like that each episode is a separate mystery, so that it doesn't become a soap opera. This has been and interesting and fun series to watch. The good doctor helps solve mysteries and this is annoying to the police, who want him to leave the detective work to them. The back story is his relationship with his boarders. He engages women and men in helping him solve mysteries, which is empowering and unusual for 1950's Australia, and helps get him into trouble. A bit more graphic than British murder mysteries, but nowhere near the graphic violence of US mysteries.This has been and interesting and fun series to watch. Wish episodes were more lengthy as presently same as short stories. Put together with style different from type of character portrayed, well thought out minus excessive drama in form of love making, though suggests what could happen perhaps drawing out toward conclusion.

Love the series. No blood and guts, sex is handled the way it used to be, and the characters are adults. I miss programs like this, that don't depend on special effects and nudity to tell a story.
