The Dragon Ball Z movie bosxet 1 has Deadzone, World's Strongest, and Tree of Might, the first three DBZ movies. Deadzone's the first of the three, and a great movie to kick it all off with. In this movie, Garlic Jr. wants revenge for his father being banished to a different realm many years ago, and attempts to gain immortality with the seven Dragonballs. While collecting the Dragonballs, they end up picking up Gohan, Goku's son, because he had a Dragonball on his hat. Goku rushes headfirst into Garlic's lair to rescue his son and stop Garlic. It gets points for being the first, even if it is pretty short. World's Strongest is the second of the three, and the longest movie in this set. Dr. Wheelo was sealed away by an avalanche for many years and was thought to have died, but he preserved ... After years of research, he was able to have his creations gather the seven Dragonballs so he could wish for his lab to come back to the surface after being under ice for years. Now that he's free, he needs a new body so he can truly be the greatest in the world. Thus begins the search for the world's strongest... This movie is entertaining to watch, and even has Master Roshi fighting for a bit. It's worth picking up the set just for this one movie. Lastly, there's Tree of Might. Turles, a Saiyan who escaped the destruction of his planet Vegeta, is bent on creating a giant tree that will drain the entire life from on the planet. The fruit from this tree can make someone the strongest fighter in the universe, since they contain the life of the entire planet in them. Goku, Krillen, Gohan, and the rest of Earth's Special Forces must join together to stop Turles and his crew. This movie isn't too bad, although the time period the movie is set in is one where every other character than Goku is weak (It's set sometime after King Kai's training with Goku, but before the fight with Vegeta, since Tien, Piccolo, etc. are still there), so there's a good deal of 'Goku worship' where he is the only one that can do anything. Annoying, but if you can look past that, it's actually a great movie worth watching. So there you have it. Three movies that are sure to entertain DBZ fans. Also, I'd recommend finding the uncut versions since a lot of the funny stuff was removed from the edited versions (In Deadzone, Krillin and Goku are looking for Gohan inside of Garlic's lair. Well, Gohan has to use the bathroom, so he just goes wherever he can. Well, he ends up peeing on Krillin and that's how they find them. In the edited version, Krillin just magically finds him). Well, if you're a Dragonball Z fan, this is definitely a good thing to add to your collection. I definitely recommend it.

The superior English dubs of these films.
I already owned these three films on Blu-ray, with Funimation's more recent in-house dubs, and they're perfectly fine. Said Blu-rays include the option to watch in English with the original Japanese music, English with original music produced by Funimation, or the original Japanese dub. The old dubs were only ever produced with the original Japanese music, but that's okay because it slaps. These DVDs also contain the original Japanese version, but if you're interested in that, you'd be better off buying the newer Blu-rays instead for the superior video quality, unless you really don't want them cropped into 16:9, but as that was the intention for the films' theatrical distribution in Japan, it doesn't bother me. These DVDs being presented in an uncropped 4:3 aspect ratio doesn't bother me ... I already owned these three films on Blu-ray, with Funimation's more recent in-house dubs, and they're perfectly fine. For general audiences, I wouldn't necessarily recommend spending the extra money on a used copy of this box set, or the individual DVDs, but they were exactly what I wanted them to be.

Great if you like the dub
I personally enjoyed the Pioneer dub of the series. These three movies come with the Pioneer dub, NOT the Funimation dub. I thought this was fantastic since this is how I first saw the show as well as the movies. There are no DVD menus and I do not believe there is a japanese audio track. It is just the Pioneer movies put onto DVDs. I was content with this, but others might not be. If you are looking for the Funimation dub or japanese audio, I would look into the Funimation double feature DVDs.I personally enjoyed the Pioneer dub of the series. A great trilogy box.
This is the best uncut dub for the original dbz trilogy. Ocean captures the personality of each character, much more suitably than the Funimation dubs. If you're someone who grew up with dbz in the late 90's, this is probably the dub you remember. If you're a little younger, you still might enjoy these dubs more.
