Buying vintage HiFi can be a game of chance. Seller agreed my offer and shipped item quickly. Item arrived very well packed, but some parts had broken free inside the unit. CD transport had not been locked down with transit screws. Seller worked with me to ensure my satisfaction. I managed to re-install loose parts and align transport, unit now works perfectly. Good seller, excellent communication, satisfactory resolution.

  • Tried and true.

One of the best egg beaters I've ever used. I got the SS1600 a couple of years ago, used it entirely for saltwater fishing and have had zero issues. It's held up well when it comes to corrosion and I've only cleaned and protected it a few times. For performance, the line lay was perfect, spooling evenly all the way up to the rim with thermo-fused braid. The drag got a workout several times and was smooth with no hitching at all. I matched it up with a 7 ft rod and used it almost entirely for casting small jigs. This year, I purchased the SS2600 ( a little larger reel ) for casting small plugs and jigs from the surf. I expect performance will be the same. HTH. Keep in mind, this is older tech and Daiwa may make better options today but this reel is tried and true quality.

  • Dynamite comes in small packages SS package

I have two ss2600 and two ss1300 freaking love these reels. I down sized from shimano baitrunners. I was tired of wind knots and heavy reels. The DAIWA SS reels have a GREAT drag setup. I recently sold my Penn Torque7G to purchase more SS reels their just that good. Best power to weight ratio you can get in a spinning reel. I can't hit hunny holes with these ss's that the shimano's couldn't cast too !!! Buy a couple of each and you will retire your other reels !! I fish big cats and have zero complaints !!!

  • The Whiskers Series Are Great Reels

These reels are extremely smooth and hold up to extended heavy use. This 2600 was purchased to live on an Alaska commercial fishing vessel w/ my son. They are "tendering" now in S East Alaska, and they fish a lot. The previous 2600 was still working well after year 3....but alas it could not swim...and went to Davey Jones' Locker.

  • best reel for the money hands down.

I have used ss tournament reels for over 28 years. (1300's, 1600's and 2600's) I am just a die hard fishermen. (so lets get that out of the way) there are not to many people you will meet that will have used this item as much as I have.) thousands if not hundreds of thousands of kings, silvers, chum, sockeye, steelhead and large trout. (you ever landed 6 halibut in 100 feet of water each one over 60 pounds with one of these reels? well I have.) in my opinion these reels are one of the finest reels on the market for the money hands down. I would add to that and say they are also one of the most bullet proof, durable reels ever made for salt water spinning. lets talk about the "whys" of it....I would put these reels up against reels costing 3 times as much and if I was a gambling man ...

  • Best all-around spinning reels ever

Daiwa tournament ss reels have never let me down and my oldest ss1300 I bought in 1989 when they came out and it still performs flawlessly! They have the smoothest drags and the long cast spool cross-wraps the line at 6 degrees so it never digs into line pack when a fish makes a sudden lunge during a fight. With their sic line roller on the bail they work great with braid too! There may be smoother 10 bearing reels now but they don't last like the ss reels. I know this first-hand because I've junked 2 ten bearing reels after their bearings went after less than a year when I decided to try them. I've now gone back to the ss reels because they just keep going. Clean and regrease them once in a while and who knows how long they'll last, I haven't broken one yet in 30 years of fishing!
