The first time I turned it on, I heard a clattering noise-- which suddenly got worse. These tools are easy to open, only three screws, and the innards are very simple. The casing is designed to hold the wires out of the way of the small plastic fanblades, and in mine the wires were interfering -- in fact, one of the blades had broken off. It was a matter of seconds to tuck the wire where it belonged and put the casing back in place. I really am happy to have this. The heat gun tool is a nice size to handle, produces nice even heat and I like the feature of the stand to put it on after use as it's hot.
The heat tool works great for why I bought it, I make lighted wine bottles and I use it to dry paint, mod podge, and the final coating of sealer, really cuts the time in half!
