    Excellent in most all respects. So few epics made like that anymore.

    A monumental achievement in film making; with excellent characters -- though a bit too many Greek names to try to keep track of. An engaging story based on fact. Everything was really above board. A few things that didn't sit well: the young Alexander with notable lipstick; the fact that Hephaistion was his male lover, and they never once kiss; the fact that Bagoas later shared his bed, but was far too feminine for my tastes; that Roxanne was more black, than middle-eastern exotic-looking. But all in all a very well made film, consistently engaging. And an ultimate tragedy, to win the whole world -- and yes the influence of that was outstanding to the culture of the known world at the time -- and end up not truly enjoying the greatness of his conquests.
