    Automotive Technology by Halderman

    This is an excellent textbook on auto mechanics. It starts off assumimg that you are a novice and in the field for the first time. It also covers enough technical stuff for the experience mechanic and has good illustrations on the topic at hand. As all modern day textbooks, it is too heavy and oversize to carry without a carrying bag.
