With a subtitle that evokes the poetry of one of the Vietnam War era's counter-culture visionaries, Vietcong: Purple Haze is a bundle that includes Pterodon's original squad-based shooter Vietcong and its first expansion pack, Vietcong: Fist Alpha. <br><br>Vietcong takes players into the jungles of Vietnam and hands them responsibility of leading an elite six-person U.S. Special Forces squad. Players control the squad leader and are responsible for assessing each mission and issuing orders based on each squad member's capabilities. Available vehicles include the CH47 Chinook twin-engine helicopter, the supersonic F-5 Tiger fighter plane, the Russian off-road GAZ 69 (Gorki'y Automobil Zavod), and the famous UHD1 "Huey" helicopter. Multiplayer options allow head-to-head confrontations between human-controlled squads of Vietcong and U.S. Special Forces soldiers.<br><br>Vietcong: Fist Alpha the first "Official Mission Pack" for Vietcong adds seven new single-player missions and eight multiplayer maps, as well as additional weapons and equipment based on the era, such as M-14s and Tokarev svt 38s. Two new NPC solders join the five featured in the original game's Special Forces unit. Additional aircraft in the mission pack include an an alternate Chinook helicopter, the B-52 strategic bomber, the McDonnel-Douglass F-4U Phantom, and the F-105 Thunderchief.

    VC Review

    Solid game. I'm only through the first 5 missions, but it's fun. I am playing on normal level, it is a bit easy. I did like "Conflict Vietnam" better, but I am enjoying this one.

    Back into the '60s

    My brother is active military and my husband's family has been in every war/conflict since the French and Indian War. They both get a hoot out of the vernacular that's used in it. I don't recommend this game for children since it has incredibly strong language (rated M for MATURE) and everything that's discussed about Vietnam is put to use to add authenticity to the game.

    purple haze

    very changeling game l like the war features and the help of the other players. Action packed of hours worth of fun making your way through the jungles and the eminems war camps. I don't like the sound track a little hard to make out what they are saying. and some of the seances are a little dark.

    Disapointed in Purple Haze

    Veitcong was one of my faverate games ever for pc but the playstaion/x-box version is lacking. Although the maps are generaly the same there is alot missing from the pc version such as the tunnel missions and the interactions at base camp. Thats probably why I'm dissappointed. But I still enjoyed playing. If you play this however, don't forget to save and save often.
