One of the best socket 775 CPU's
I replaced a Q6600 CPU with this Q9400. According to CPUBoss: "When it comes to benchmarks, the overclocked Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor was able to complete the benchmark just as fast as the Intel Core i7 940 processor, which is wicked fast." But, according to UserBenchmark, the Q9400 ranks 486 out of 980 against a modern Core i9 7980XE at 1 of 980. "Considering its age it performs well in recent games'. And at a fraction ($ 13) of the cost of an i9 7980XE ($ 2.000). My (2nd) PC runs extremely well.I replaced a Q6600 CPU with this Q9400. If, on the other hand, you want to watch videos online, stream or download, email, and do other internet activities, There is no need for anything new, at this point in time. In fact, socket 478 is still a valid choice. If it were not for the purposeful refusal to support older platforms, Pentium 3 would still be a valid choice for all internet activity. If you are running Win7 and older, this is as good as it gets on a budget. Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad are all pretty much worth their paltry price tag today. remember that these things were once the state of the art and have not lost any of their luster. Good replacement CPU for cheap
Trying to squeeze a little more life out of a very old computer. The CPU worked as soon as I installed it. For the price, I am very satisfied. I'm still waiting to see if I can get Windows 10 to work at a usable level.
