      I would recommend it without hesitation

      I bought this to replace a Rode NTG1 shotgun microphone in which the mic plug at the back had receded into the case, making it unusable and almost impossible to dismantle and fix. The sound quality is difficult to distinguish from that of the Rode, but the output is quite a lot higher and might need to be attenuated in some aplications. It's a lot more directional than the Rode, which I see as a virtue in most situations, and the hiss level is equally low. Mechanically it's steel body is equally robust and it has an on/off switch to save the battery which is something the Rode lacks. Considering how much cheaper it is to buy I would consider it excellent value for money and would recommend it without hesitation.
