    Article 99 DVD

    This may not be a blockbuster hit, but it does give an good example of the hectic, chaotic days of emergency room personnel. My wife had asked to see this movie specifically when clips of it were used in a recent hospital in-service she attended. It also show some very realistic difficulties that our veterans face daily when attempting to get medical assistance from the VA. With a bag of popcorn, some coffee, or soda, this makes for an enjoyable family movie.

    Good Drama

    Once a very difficult title to find, now available pretty much anywhere, but be careful to check the region (I know from person experience). Drama that comes pretty close to actual life, very engaging, keeps you on the edge of your seat.

    Article 99 (DVD, 2003)

    Doctors and patients at a severely underfunded veterans' hospital rebel against bureaucracy-minded administrators by doing whatever it takes to ensure proper care. This is a good movie, but doesn't necessarily represent the truth. If the VA is failing, it is not because of lack of funding, but typically staffed with many unqualified doctors and so-called medical personnel who are both uncaring and undiciplined and can't be fired.
