About this product

Product Information

The Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Collector’s Edition for the Microsoft Xbox 360 comes in attractive, premium SteelBook metal packaging and includes a range of special features for fans of this epic sci-fi adventure game from Capcom, and for fans of sci-fi games in general. The range of special features that come with the set includes an exclusive concept art book showing the developmental progression of the game’s visual style through character and Vital Suit renders, enemy art, and more. Also included with the box set is a copy of the game’s cinematic soundtrack on CD, allowing Lost Planet fans to enjoy Jamie Christopherson’s unique blend of electronic rhythms, tribal percussion, and evocative woodwinds at leisure. Encouraging fans of the games to create their own Lost Planet websites, the Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Collector’s Edition includes fan kit assets and digital art files showing characters and environments, among other things. The set also includes wallpapers, icons, and signature banners. Known for its atmospheric selling points and immersive story, the game itself is a popular third-person shooter for the Xbox 360. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was originally exclusive to the Xbox 360 but, in testament to the popularity the game enjoyed from its January 2007 release date, was later ported to the PC and PlayStation 3 (PS3) as well. This edition was not released for the PS3 or PC. Based on the fictional, icy planet of E.D.N. III, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition casts the player into the role of amnesiac Wayne Holden. While uncovering the clues to his lost memory, Holden encounters a range of challenges, from deadly native species the Akrid to Snow Pirates and agents of the shadowy NEVEC Corporation. A large part of the gameplay revolves around use of the Vital Suit. Players can use their own Vital Suit or hijack those of enemy Snow Pirates to serve as protection against otherwise indomitable threats. The Vital Suit also protects against the extreme weather conditions on E.D.N. III and offers enhanced mobility and heavy weaponry. There are multiple iterations of the Vital Suit, with the earlier GT-01 version being somewhat limited in its armor and expandability. The GTF-11 Vital Suit, meanwhile, has flight propulsion and advanced posture control along with powerful weaponry. Alternatively, while on foot, players can sneak around and fight more stealthily as well as make use of the zip line to quickly reach out-of-the-way strategic vantage points. Some weapons can only be used on foot, such as the standard issue machine gun, while others are bulkier for use with a Vital Suit. Players must learn to select the best weapons for the job, taking into account the otherworldly attributes of the local Akrid creatures. Not only are they made impervious to the extreme cold by harvesting the coveted Thermal Energy mineral but, depending on the particular type of Akrid in question, they may also have natural armor, devastating pincers, long-range radar detection, and tentacles, or they may simply have the advantage of numbers. In addition to the immersive single-player campaign of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, the game also features a popular multiplayer mode for up to 16 players via Xbox Live. Multiplayer includes an exciting range of weapons, vehicles and play modes, including Elimination and Team Elimination, Post Grab, and Fugitive. For fans of the Capcom Lost Planet games, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Collector’s Edition for the Xbox 360 is a worthy purchase and an excellent addition to any video games collection. With a range of cheats and 35 achievements, there’s plenty of replay value too.

Did not ship for days. Mainboard box was very damaged, much more than the box it shipped in. Metal chipset heatsink/fan was broken off the mainboard and rattling around against it, damaging pins. I checked it anyway. RGB lighting did not work. Asked for refund, seller offered $99 but I did not want to use a potentially unreliable mainboard. No communication from seller, just the refund offer. When they did not provide return shipping information, ebay refunded me. Not a pleasant experience.

The extreme conditions mentioned in the title are no joke. Lost Planet takes place on a planet that is so cold, freezing to death would happen quite rapidly if it weren't for a strange orange ooze that the local residents known as the Akrid produce and store. This thermal energy can be harvested and used to keep the main character from succumbing to the elements. Unfortunately, the Akrid are a collective of giant bug-like aliens who haven't bought into the human ideas of colonizing and terra forming the planet. Rather than looking for a more suitable planet to colonize, humanity took the next logical step; build giant mechs called vital suits and make bigger guns to fight back. The indoor environments can be breathtaking.Lost Planet's campaign mode places you in the role of Wayne, a man ...

  • Next-gen Bug Hunting!!!

Pros + Gorgeous visuals plus lots of snow. + Great, addictive multiplayer. Grappling hooks!!! + Awesome arcade-type experience brought to next-gen with fun mech-play and shoot em' up action. Cons - Gameplay is not as deep as other Capcom titles have been such as 'Dead Rising' or 'Resident Evil 4'. Tends to be repetitive. - Multiplayer mode is not as consistant as it should be. - Controls could be smoother. Should be a way to not have to walk so much. Comments Lost Planet is one game that has a better multiplayer mode than the single player. The campaign is intriguing but the multiplayer is far more addictive and will keep you playing for months to come. There are a lot of things you will come to hate such as some of the aiming & movement issues but if you can get around them you will ...

  • A True Underdog…

I really don’t understand why the media and some gamers have been so critical of this game it has it all to be a classic series. The first thing to take note of is the story, which in my opinion is pretty solid and exiting (Hopefully not realistic right), in few words killing big bugs and driving really cool mechs, has always been a wining recipe in my book. Then comes the gameplay which is fluid and pretty manageable, I don’t share the opinion of people that said that this is the second worst part of the game where with a little of practice you can overcome, this miniscule obstacle. Lastly, the graphics are GOOD, I don’t know what gamers talk about when they say that the image it’s to blurry; First the game takes place in a frozen planet, so WHITE snowflakes more than likely will be ...

  • "You're as cold as ice, you're willing to sacrifice..."

When I first heard of Lost Planet I was excited. When I played the demo, I was amazed. When I finally played the retail version...well, not so much. It's not to say Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a bad game, because it's not. There's a lot to like about it. Lot's of guns, Mech's (or as the game calls them, Vital Suits), creative monsters and a sweet grappling hook. I was very pleased with all the variety. The game takes place on an ice cold planet run a muck with monsters called Akrid. Think Hoth and Starship Trooper bugs with glowing butts. These Akrid have a type of thermal energy within them that you and everyone else must use to keep warm and power all the equipment. Through out the game you have to collect this thermal energy to fill a meter that is constantly counting down ...

  • Lost Planet CE

Lost planet stands with some of my personal favorite games. The storyline takes you through much angst, and plot twists. One of the reasons I kept going was just to see what happened to the main character HD musts -Explosion clouds -Snow effects -Particles Having an HDTV will makes these effects looks much better, lost planet had particle effects more beautiful than any other game I have seen for the Xbox 360 The playability is decent, but may frustrate some players on the time it takes the character to roll or jump, when in truth it makes it more realistic since your character needs to bend his legs. Multiplayer is what you can expect from this Capcom game, there is a decent community and you seem to "level up" the more matches you play. The community on Lost Planet can sometimes be rude ...
