      Item is easy to use. Don't be intimidated by the owner's manual. I have used this item in several spots in my yard. I was surprised to find out that most of my yard is 'partial sun' or 'partial shade'.

      Now I Know

      Bought this to measure the sunlight where I wanted to do some front yard landscaping near some old mango trees. First the bad news, the batteries that came with the unit were dead. However, I bought new ones at my nearby dollar store and then put the unit out where I wanted to do my planting. The instructions state you need to let it collect for a full 12 hours so I put it out at 7AM, and collected it just after 7PM. I got my reading and was able to choose the right plants for partial sun, which according to a technical sheet I found for the Suncalc means 4-6 hours of sun. Without the Suncalc I would have guessed there was less sun than that but I don't sit and watch all day to be sure. Cool device.

      This version of the SunCalc works the best yet! I like that you can turn it on/off easily. Earlier versions of this product were faulty but it looks like they've finally got all the quirks out. This retailer was quick to mail them out and responsive to questions. They are keen on customer satisfaction.

      Useful Device
