i never get tired of this book

Wonderful book
My wife read this as a young teen and has enjoyed reading it again to our daughter. This is a wonderful book that, as a parent-child read, opens up a wonderful world of reading to children.

Great, inventive retelling of a classic fairy tale
If you've not discovered Gail Carson Levine, you've been missing out. This book is great for young adults and the young of heart. Ella Enchanted is a great retelling of Cinderella. Once you begin, you won't want to put the book down until you've finished. Levine uses many inventive literary devices to advance the story and character development. Very imaginative.

I bought this paperback for a good friend of mine who was expecting a baby whom she plan to name "Ella". I was familiar with the book because it was a Georgia Book Award winner several years ago. She was amused and happy with the book because she knows how much I love to read, and how I wanted Ella to become a reader. I'm an avid reader, but only in thanks to this book. I picked it up in the fourth grade and it is the first real book that I had ever really enjoyed. Before "Ella Enchanted" reading wasn't a passion, but because of this book - it is now. It's incredibly well written, it's smart, it's funny, it's romantic, and it has a kiss of tragedy that makes it hard to put down. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a break from the mundane.
