Excitebots is an over-the-top racing game with fantasy vehicles and unbelievable stunts. As in the Wii launch title Excite Truck and the 8-bit inspiration ExciteBike, high-flying jumps are a big part of each race, and good landings are crucial to top-speed runs. Instead of four-wheelers or dirt bikes, players race "bots," which are mechanical bugs, lizards, and other cute and creepy creatures, all built for speed. Bots can collect parts they find along the raceways to become faster or stronger.<br><br>Controls are designed to be accessible and intuitive for players of all ages and skill levels. The game is compatible with the Wii Wheel accessory. Players steer their vehicles, and tip them forward or back, by tilting the Wii Remote, held sideways. Tricks are performed by moving the controller in different patterns while in mid-air, with combos scoring the most points. In addition to the races, players can run their favorite bots through obstacle courses, sports-inspired challenges, and other included mini-games.

Must have for any Wii owner !
At the time I write this review the "original" Wii console has been out for at least 10 years which technically makes it outdated in terms of graphics.. however I've noticed that a number of younger players out there, surprisingly enough, don't mind the older graphics as long as the gameplay is entertaining and fun much to my surprise (this is definitely the case with my munchkins and I've noticed this trend with other younger gamers too). So if you find yourself buying a used Wii console (make sure your young ones have a chance to play it first, maybe at someone else's house to make sure they're interested before wasting your money! As any parent knows all kids are different.. or if buying for yourself same thing play at a buddy's house first if possible) definitely add Excitebots to ... As any parent knows all kids are different.. or if buying for yourself same thing play at a buddy's house first if possible) definitely add Excitebots to your collection... there are several online resources which describe it as a great game that was sadly overlooked in the face of other video games that were launched at the same time as it's release... to date it's still the most fun racing game I've placed despite it's aged (by modern day standards) graphics... my wife is not a huge video game fan and even she loved playing it, kids and I adored it way back years ago when we got our first Wii.. then my son purchased an old Wii to hack and we ended up getting Excitebots again and still love it many years later ! Online reviews of the game as well as youtube videos will give you a better idea of how the game itself looks and plays but basically it's an insane racing game where you drive various "bots" that at various points in the game grow legs and stomp right through trees and other objects that would normally result in a crash, fly up in the air and pop bubbles to rescue butterflies trapped in them, assemble a sandwich by running into the various ingredients and assembling them, launch yourself at bars suspended in the air and turn the wii controller in circles to make the bot go faster and faster until it bursts away from the bar towards the ground launching itself back onto the racecourse (definitely purchase a wii wheel to go with this ! You can get a non-official Nintendo wheel cheap from overseas if you're willing to wait for it to arrive in the mail and we've found those work just fine) , you can steer into pies and launch the pie into a clown's face ... it even give you bonus points or stars when you crash with the words " Nice crash ! " appearing in big letters (could never tell if the game was trying to make fun of me or not :P ) ... On top of that you can get a used version of this game very cheaply nowadays... don't worry about the instruction manual being included you won't need it, the game has a tutorial built right into it that teaches you the basics and shows you on-screen what do to in other situations too (the bar thing in the air I mentioned for example).

Good interactive game for kids.
I bought this for my son who is 11 and after playing it myself for a short while, I found that I actually had to concentrate on it. This game us different from the normal car racing games out there so I feel like it has something different to offer than the usual gas, brake and steer like the others.

There’s really no other racing game like this. Super fun game with a sense of humor and tons of variety in every race. Smash the other bots, make huge jumps and spin in the air for stars, turn into a walking robot and try to go through narrow paths without hitting trees, find better paths, throw pies at a clown, knock down bowling pins, shoot a soccer ball into a goal, flip off a bar and try to launch from it as you come back down, etc, etc, all while racing. The motion controls are intuitive and work well. You can play with or without a Wii wheel. Some people prefer the wheel and some prefer to play without. The online play is incredible and thanks to modders the online is restored. You will need to mod your Wii to get the online now, but if you have people to play it with local, it has ...
