    A delightful antidote for the helpless rescue me princess story..and fun!

    This is a wonderful little book and a delightful antidote for the many traditional princess stories, in which an helpless, inert, or even unconscious princess awaits rescue from the prince. This spunky little princess outwits the dragon, rescues the prince, then wisely decides that though he "looks like a prince" he is really a bum and marches off proudly in her paper bag. The prince merits this rebuff for responding to his rescue not with any gratitude but contempt for her dragon battered appearance. A great story for girly empowerment and a wonderful springboard for discussion with preschool princess wannabes. More than that though it is neither tedious nor pedantic and actually a fun book for the grown up to read.

    Brains over Beauty

    Are you tired of stories where the handsome prince rescues the helpless but beautiful princess? In this story the prince gets kidnapped. And after the princess cleverly rescues him -- she uses her brains, not he brawn -- he tells her she looks too dirty and sloppy to marry. She tells him that he's a bum. And they don't get married. Moral: use your brains. Don't marry a bum. Love it!
