These pickups are very good. I put them in an Ibanez AS53 semi hollow body which is a great guitar with a great neck and well made. I would say they are as good as Gibson classic 57's and for a lot less money. They arrived on time. I would do business with this seller again. I have less than $400 invested in this guitar with these up graded pickups and I could not be happier. I've been playing for 60 years as a professional. I am 73 now. Suits my style, smooth jazz Blues., Rock.Hope this helps.

Great tone but difficult to install

For the price, this set is a great value. I replaced ceramic pickups on my Epiphone Les Paul and I can immediately hear the difference: Alnico magnets are really more musical. BUT, I do have a couple of complaints which made installation a pain. First, the cable length for the neck pickup is too short. It's just long enough to solder to the volume pot but you can't perform the operation outside the guitar control cavity--it's that short. Second, the tabs/ears for the bridge pickup stick out so much that I thought I couldn't fit the pickup in the cavity. It's just a little too long/wide. Depends on your guitar maybe.I had to use pliers to bend the tabs inward. Luckily that worked. So my advice: take measurements!

  • Lucky enough to have a Gibson LP 57 40th Anniversary to Compare these to

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was for a project guitar so I purchased it. I'm lucky enough to have a 57' Gibson 40th anniversary NOS so I can compare the pickups. My Gibson 57 pickups though were made before Gibson mass produced them as the Classic 57s though so I'm not sure how close they are to the Classic 57. Keep in mind that my real LP is much heavier, rounder neck, and sounds warmer and louder unplugged. The LP copy I put these in sounds thinner and brighter unplugged. I also installed a Jackson Electronic Luthier wiring harness/pots and caps along with these pickups. Similarities: Responsiveness, pick attack, chording, picking... it responds exactly the same as my Gibson 57 pickups Differences: Brighter but more balanced between the bridge and neck pickups. My true 57 ...

  • You will not regret this purchase. Trust me.

As others have noted, the wires are precisely long enough, at best, to reach the pots. A couple of additional inches would be great. That's what she said. With regard to the pickups themselves, they are outstanding, and I've spent a lot of $$$ on the two BIG names in the past... you know who I'm talking about. These pickups from Guitar Madness easily hold their own against those priced several times more. I had a set of EMGs in a beautiful Heritage H-140 guitar out of Kalamazoo Michigan. The EMGs were installed in it aftermarket, and I wanted something a bit more nuanced, something that was more dynamic through my little Vox tube amp (the EMGs would not clean up - they slammed the preamp into distortion no matter what I did), and these pickups from Guitar Madness delivered. Clear ...

  • Even ordered and installed some for friends

These are excellent pickups for the money. Good harmonic content. Good output. Good tone when paired with the right woods. These are wound a little hotter than other vintage alnico 2 sets, but they aren't so hot they get mushy on the bottom. I've bought tons of 57 specials and 59ers. The 2s work well paired with upper mid focused woods. Darker guitars tend to like the A5 more. A couple of friends tried my Jackson. It had these very pickups in it. They had me order more and install them in their guitars. They were ecstatic about the outcome. They really are toneful pickups. Especially when you consider the cost. Buy with confidence and enjoy.

  • Great pickups for the money

They are great I wanted a lower output humbucker set and this set is just what I wanted and with Alinco II magnets I now have clarity when overdriven and no muddy neck pickup. I didn't expect them to sound this good. for the money you can't go wrong, give them a try you won't be disappointed. I would recommend upgrading you pots and capacitors to get he full potential of your pickups.
