The Discovery Channel did a favor for the reality TV genre when it introduced the Teutel family, injecting it with new life and a volatile appeal. The Teutels own Orange County Choppers--that's New York, not California--and the patriarch, Paul Sr., runs the business with a loud, commanding presence and a temper that threatens to flare up at any moment. The drama revolves around this possiblillity of explosion as the guys endeavor to create their massive machines while constrained by a deadline; under the gun, they manage to build elaborate, innovative, highly-customized choppers that resemble nothing so much as sculpture on wheels. Paul Jr. is the creative mind behind his father's bluster, and both are intimidating to behold, epitomizing the chopper lifestyle in every respect. In the first season, Mikey gets a chance to build his own bike, master fabricator Cody collaborates on his design with Paul Sr., and the Teutels spend quality time together, Teutel-style. Episodes include "Black Widow I & 2," "Daytona Bike Week," and "Commanche 1, 2, & 3."

American Chopper
I've watched American Chopper since it was first aired a few years ago! There were so many times I thought 'Woe'!! This Dad is too rough on his son!! But then Dad *Paule Sr.* shows his Teddy Bear side and the fact that his tough love is more Loving than it is Tough! Anyone who doesn't get this, simply isn't watching this show. But the fun and emotional journey isn't all this show has. No Way. This show also has the aspect of creativity, talent, skill and creation. The creation amidst stormy interpersonal relationships within the family and the shop make for a dramatic unraveling of emotions, a project, pressure to meet deadlines and finally a finished product that makes us all smile and look at the Chopper *motorcycle* in awe of just how wonderful this family is and what they are capable ... American Chopper it's not all about motorcycles.
It you've never watched the show on TLC or Discovery it is a must see. American Chopper is so much more than just a show about building motorcycles. This is a moving story about the trials and tribulations of a father and his sons trying to build a business. The reality is real, this is a non-scripted show. The Teutul are a train wreck waiting to happen, but you have to love them because they are a family and they don't hide their flaws. The combination of Paul Sr. with his know it all attitude, Paul Jr. with his talent and laid back gift for motorcycle design alone make the show a hit, then there's Mickey a teddy bear of a man whose laziness and humor are instantly likeable. The show is full of destruction, comedy and fighting all set around the building of a theme bike. Let me add that ... It you've never watched the show on TLC or Discovery it is a must see. I do suggest starting at the begining and working your way to the current season. A lot happens and they refer back. Plus it's nice to understand the lingo of the builds. If you enjoy reality tv, soap operas, sitcoms or dramas you should enjoy this show.

... It's rather Entertaining
I just recently got into doing motorcycle modification however I am not very interested in Chopper but more Rat and Bobber bikes. However I got this box set for there welding and interest in what the "other" guys are doing. However, this box set did not have much out of the normal to offer but was interested. the clowns of OCC was very enjoyable as well Entertaining. Cheers to the guys of OCC though for taking the Orange County name out of the West Coast and into a small town and for being creative. However one question that left unanswered is that this is more of a mod chop shop rather than building the engine, OCC just assembles the unit (unless its one of those behind the scene deal). The bonus features shows everything you don't see on TV including how big are these king dorks of OCC ... I just recently got into doing motorcycle modification however I am not very interested in Chopper but more Rat and Bobber bikes.
