New Zealand-born Ellory Elkayem's EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS is a ridiculously irreverent romp that pays homage to American b-movies of the 1950s. Set in the nearly bankrupt mining town of Prosperity, Arizona, the film opens with the timely return of Chris McCormack (David Arquette). On the outskirts of town, a spider-loving eccentric discovers that water from a nearby river has a steroid-like effect on his tiny creatures. Unfortunately, that's because it has been contaminated by a toxic substance. It isn't long before the now-monstrous spiders are terrorizing Prosperity's townspeople. Taking refuge in the Prosperity Mall, Chris and his fellow cohorts--the beautiful Sheriff Sam Parker (Kari Wuhrer), her kids Mike (Scott Terra) and Ashley (Scarlett Johansson), Deputy Pete (Rick Overton), and paranoid radio DJ Harlan (Doug E. Doug)--search for a way to destroy the gigantic monsters before they are destroyed. Handpicked by producers Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, writer-director Elkayem rises to the challenge. He successfully retains the lighthearted, low-budget feel of similar-toned 1950s classics (TARANTULA, THEM!) and merges it with a modern, big-budget aesthetic, to create an outrageously fresh contribution to the "mutant bug" genre.

Was sent the wrong item. I ordered a CD and I received an LP instead. Two different places on the description said that it was a used CD in good condition. When I emailed the seller about it I got a generic reply telling me that they would get to it when they can and that if I send a second message it will just delay the process. I love silly "horror" movies. When I'm stuck indoors and want something inexpensive to do I look for a great film and a bag of popcorn. Wearing pj's and wrapped up in a soft blanket on my sofa is definitely better than driving 30 miles to the nearest cinema. This movie has great giant spiders, lots of "damsels in distress", silliness and action. No surprises, no gross-out blood and body parts splattering the screen, just fun! And lots of it. Like "Them" and other "classics" from the 50's, this movie fills the fun-void! I love being able to purchase new films and books at used prices on Ebay. I feel like my dollar is worth something here. What do you get when you cross toxic waste with a bunch of exotic spiders? Eaten! The town has money problems due to a empty gold mine, but that is not the only problem they have to deal with. They have gaint exotic spiders aka eight legged freaks to deal with too. This movie is fun to watch from being to the end. I give this movie two thumds up. Yes it that good. Well, you might expect that this is just another horror B-movie...but, you would be wrong. This reminded me of the fun 80's horror movies like Return of the Living Dead, which used horror and humor to create a great viewing experience. While this is not a masterpiece, it did provide a couple hours of fun viewing and I can recommend it to any who enjoy a good scare along with alot of belly laughs.Well, you might expect that this is just another horror B-movie...but, you would be wrong.
