    On the Road, the movie

    If you are familiar with Kerouac's novel, this will be a great visualization of the characters and their life style. The movie is a well done period piece with a good cast. Dean's character and Sal's relationship with him is great fodder for a complex all night conversation. So smoke some tea, drink some beers with shots, pop some uppers and blast some mad music. Get in the mood, feel IT, know Time and remember Death levels us all. Get a big, powerful sedan and drive, drive, drive- as fast as you can. Welcome the egg that hatched at Woodstock and the crazy, manic ideas that killed numerous of the performers. Yes, yes.

    The long road

    I found a book a while back on Jack keroak and haven't gotten to it yet. I got to own big sur before 'the road' and said "now I'm gonna have to order this" I love them both. I'm in recovery. Have been for 3 years and in big sur I got to see a glimpse of the non feeling, non caring it's only about me alkie in the character. I was like wow. I love Kristen Stewart. I have almost every movie she's been in. She's a great kid, with a great life ahead of her!

    Good movie, Great Filming, OK Main Actors

    A pretty Good movie of a hard to adapt to screen book. The filming of scenery and period feel is great. The two main actors are only fair, compared to people they were supposed to be playing Sal/Jack Kerouac and Dean/Neil Cassady.

    Good introduction to the Beats

    Filming Kerouac is a difficult task at any time. These actors did a fine job for people who weren't born any near the late 1940's. I often thought they should have filmed this in the late fifties with Ben Gazzara as Kerouac and Dennis Hopper as Neal Cassady. The censors would have ripped all of the guts out of it, due to the Joe McCarthy hearings. Good introduction to the Beat Era for young people who don't really know what it is about.
