Feels nice and locks well, but internal assembly damages itself very easily
The mount is extremely rigid when locked thanks to its all metal body, so that's a plus. However, the mechanism used for tightening the mount is a steel pin that squishes up against an internal aluminum part, shown attached. The steel pin absolutely destroys the surface of the aluminum when you tighten it down. I've had this product for less than a day. Although the performance of the mount is very good, I have no idea how long it will last. The gouges on the surface of the internal part also make it difficult to lock into a specific angle. If you start tightening the mount and the steel pin is sufficiently close to a gouge made by some other time you tightened the mount, its going to slip into that gouge as you fully lock the mount. The quick-swap mount at the top is beautifully engineered; no damage occurs during use, it's easy to put the camera on and take it off, and the assembly is incredibly rigid. For the price, it's pretty decent though. I plan to use this for astrophotography, so having precise angle locking capabilities is very critical, but for most photography I think it wouldn't be much of an issue. My only worry is how much damage the locking mechanism causes to the device.
