Save Your Money and Get Something Else - Critical Design Flaw to Start
There's a reason why there are so many repair services for the motherboard of this and the full spectrum of HP DV6000 to DV9000 laptops made by HP/Compaq. These motherboards and/or the laptops should have been recalled by HP. They do not dissipate heat well and the GPU often requires a complete re-solder (reballing or reflowing). Short of buying a new replacement board (not a good idea either even if you can still find one), I recommend avoiding these few models. Here are some of the issues with these laptops: 1. LAPTOP POWERS ON, BUT NO DISPLAY SEEN ON SCREEN 2. LAPTOP SOME TIMES TURNS ON, MOST OF THE TIME WILL NOT BOOT 3. WIRELESS NOT WORKING & IS NOT DETECTED BY MOTHERBOARD/DEVICE MANAGER EVEN WITH NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS 4. LAPTOP GENERATES A BEEP BEEP SOUND WHEN POWERING UP (You could ... I bought mine new around 2009 for close to $1,000.00. I loved everything about it. I got almost two year's use out of it. I, like so many others, was a victim of the overheating and frying the motherboard design flaw. Wouldn't you know this happened just as the warranty expired? I was told by several computer repair shops that they could fix it for around $400.00+ but it would be a waste of money and I should just get a new one. I hate how disposable society has become. So now its been sitting on a shelf for the past 5 years. I would love to be able to use it again, because when it worked it was a great computer.I bought mine new around 2009 for close to $1,000.00. Good laptop if you have warrenty
I had the one just like this for 6 years. Ok laptop, just like any others but multimedia performace is excellent. One of the loudest and clear sound, and it handle video and audio like no others for this price. I loved it.
