    Topaz is not amoungst Hitchcock's best work, but it is not bad either. Hitchcock has one major problem as a director. That is people keep comparing him to Hitchcock. When he makes an average or good movie it is often looked at as weak effort. Topaz is one of these movies. Overall it is a good movie, buit not one of Hitchcock's best. Topaz is a spy thriller that takes place during the Cuban Missle Crisis. There are John Forsythe is the the bigger star, but Frederick Stafford has the leading role. There is a fair amount of suspense, romance, and intrigue. The characters are believable and the story moves at a swift pace. The ending is a little abrupt, but there are three alternate endings in the special features. Topaz is a necessary edition to anyone collecting Hitchcock ...
